Continuation of the iconic and so far the only American novelTo Kill a Mockingbird, by author Harper Lee, will soon be published by New Book, which has bought the rights to publish it.
The continuation of the famous and so far the only book for which Harper Lee won the Pulitzer Prize was published in London on July 14. The agent of the American writer announced that the rights to publish her eagerly awaited second novel were bought by 31 international publishing houses. Among them, the publishing house Nova knjiga, which is working extensively on the translation of the novel, bought the rights to publish this novel.
To Kill a Mockingbird is the story of a young girl Scout and her father Atticus, a lawyer for a black man innocently accused of raping a white woman. The novel was published for the first time in 1960 and has been finding its way to readers for more than half a century, even being included as reading material in many schools in English-speaking countries because of its lessons that emphasize tolerance and call for justice.
The continuation of the novel follows the life of the now adult Scout, who returns from New York to Maycomb to visit her father. Returning to the place where she grew up will lead her to face personal and political problems, but also to understand her father's attitudes towards society. She will also face the feelings that bind her to the place where she grew up and spent her childhood.
Until the publication of the continuation of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, fans of the written word can enjoy its first part, which can be found in all City bookstores or ordered via the website www.novaknjiga.com.
