Darko Laković (49) from Podgorica claims that he did not see who waited for him two days ago at the entrance of the building, shot at him, and then beat him.
After the attack, Laković was left bleeding at the door of the elevator, and the attackers fled.
His family believes that there were at least three of them - two who wounded and beat him, and one who "guarded" the entrance to the building.
The attack happened on Monday around 11.30:XNUMX am.
"As soon as I got out of the elevator, they shot me. One shot broke a bone in my right leg, and the other caused a gunshot wound in my left. When I fell, they started hitting me... They couldn't beat me any other way," said Laković.
He claims that the attackers chose the entrance as a place to wait, because "they could only approach him there".
"I am never alone, not even to the entrance of the building. I didn't think that someone would wait for me right there, next to so many cafes and places where I go," he said.
He added that he takes care with whom he moves, because "we live in Montenegro."
"I am not threatened, but it is known where we live. That's why I'm never alone, I take care of my movements, I don't trust anyone," said Laković.
He claims that he owes nothing to anyone, and that "on his part there are no outstanding accounts".
Laković's wife, Ljiljana, told "Vijesta" that she believes that no one heard the shots fired at her husband, because the floor where they live is uninhabited.
She assumes that the attackers followed Darko and were disguised as craftsmen, "because work is still being done in the entrance".
Laković said that yesterday morning, with serious injuries to his head and legs, he left the Department of Neurosurgery of the Clinical Center without a doctor's approval.
He added that the entrance where he lives is not covered by video surveillance, but also that he did not give a statement to the police until 15 p.m. yesterday.
Despite this, inspectors, according to unofficial information from "Vijesti", detained Mladen Lakušić from Podgorica at around 13 pm yesterday, claiming that he "corresponds to the description of the attacker".
Lakušić, who refused the polygraph test, remained in the police until his alibi was confirmed to the inspectors.
