The first day of the weekend was an opportunity for representatives of the diplomatic corps in Montenegro to get to know the natural beauties of the Biogradska gora National Park. A hotel could be built there as early as next year, and the Ministry of Tourism promises to work on improving its protection and valorization in a sustainable way.

Director of Biogradska gora National Park Saša Jeknić welcomed the representatives of the diplomatic corps.

"Welcome to one of the last rainforests in Europe. Welcome to the future Europark", said Jeknić.

It was at that place that the ambassadors in Montenegro had the opportunity today to learn about the natural values of the NP Biogradska gora and the activities of the Ministry of Tourism. It was also an opportunity to exchange ideas about the protection, development and improvement of protected areas.

"I think that today's gathering also has its own symbolism, and I expect that maybe next year we will have a small hotel in this area that will be built according to high eco standards, which will fully match this area and improve accommodation capacities," said the Minister of Sustainable development and tourism Branimir Gvozdenović.

The fact that the hotel is necessary, they say, is also shown by the number of visitors to this location, which is increasing year by year. This especially pleases the first man of the National Park Biogradska Gora.

"It is precisely for these reasons that further investments in the already existing construction of new park infrastructure are necessary, which will provide a more substantial tourist sub-offer. In 2014, for the first time after more than 50 years, through the capital budget, and thanks to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, funds were provided for the construction and improvement of the park's infrastructure," Jeknić pointed out.

The Ministry says that thanks to international institutions, they have done a project that precisely defines how to valorize this space based on the principles of sustainable development, and how to provide income for new protection and preservation of the park and employment.

"That material, which was the subject of our special attention, predicts that in this way revenues of over 68 million euros can be realized in this area." said Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenović.

In addition to learning about the natural values of Biogradska Gora, the ambassadors had the opportunity to try local Montenegrin products, as well as to enjoy traditional songs and dances.
