"People in Montenegro write more than they read," said Montenegrin writer Ilija Đurović, author of the collection of stories "They do it so wonderfully in great romance novels", which was promoted last night at the International Podgorica Book Fair.
Last year, Đurović, together with his friends, founded the publishing house "Zuta Kornjača", of which he is the artistic director.
"When we founded the publishing house, we sent a public invitation to everyone who writes and many manuscripts arrived, but they were quite bad. Three excellent ones stood out and were published," said Đurović, emphasizing that by launching the "Yellow Turtle" website, they realized that in Montenegro, people write more than they read, and that maybe one day they will publish the anthology "How not to write".
"The Yellow Turtle will be defined by a group of people that we can call marginals on the literary scene, because that group will not be contacted by a big publisher," said Đurović.
"The Yellow Turtle" has published three books so far, and as Đurović pointed out, they will publish three more this year.
"So far, my book "They do it so wonderfully in big romance novels" has been published, followed by Dušan Đurović's book "Plagiarism" and Ljubomir Đurković's book "The Greeks", Đurović pointed out and added that this is quite enough for a young publishing house. .
He said that in the current year "Yellow Turtle" will publish a collection of stories by Bran Mandić, a collection of poems by the young Montenegrin author Slađana Kavarić, as well as a translation of stories from Japanese contemporary literature.
Đurović's story "Five Widows" was published in the prestigious American anthology "Best European Fiction 2016", while his stories were also published in Montenegrin and regional online and print literary magazines.
