If you often don't know what to do with yourself, you can't finish tasks, pretending to be bored, try to shake yourself out of that state, because it can lead you down a bad path. Straight into depression.
This is what an American study showed, during which psychologists from Harvard monitored the mental state of more than 2.000 people. The results they reached, which they published in the journal "Nauka", proved the connection between boredom and bad mood.
People who are able to stay focused on a specific task for a long time are much happier than those who easily slip into boredom. Scientists have concluded that it is constant "mind wandering" and failure to focus on something that is a strong trigger for depression.
In addition, those who complain that they are often bored are two and a half times more likely to have a heart attack or stroke. Scientists assume that this is because people who are bored indulge in unhealthy habits, smoke a lot, drink alcohol and eat unhealthy food, reports Novosti.
