On Saturday, the "Karver" bookstore will celebrate its tenth anniversary with a festive program. The program will start at 19:20, and it will be opened and celebrated by Montenegrin writers and artists, while "Piva Jazz" will perform from 30:XNUMX to XNUMX:XNUMX.
The "Karver" bookstore is located in the "Banja" building under the "New Bridge" on the way to the Old Airport, and it was created from the international project "Bibliodessey" and thanks to the support of the Capital City, which gave this cultural monument to the company "Sibilia" for the needs of the bookstore.
"It is a unique bookstore and cultural center in the region. These are the words of foreign guests," said director and founder of the bookstore Varja Đukić, adding that in addition to its authenticity and cultural treasures, it remains unknown to many Podgorica residents. She pointed out that the Capital City supports the Carver bookstore, and that the bookstore gives the Capital City its uniqueness.
"The bookshop-reading-gallery-café has become a small city storefront that inherits not only the cultural treasure of 'Karver' but also the Banja building where the bookshop is located," said Đukić.
During its ten years of operation, the bookstore organized more than 1000 programs, promotions, and workshops, not only in the field of literature, but also in film, art, music, and theater.
"This is not a place where you can only find a book, many people created, sang, played music here", said Montenegrin director Branko Baletić and added that he hopes that the new leadership of the Capital City will listen more to "Karver" as well as to others. cultural institutions of the city.
For ten years, "Karver" has presented a significant number of Montenegrin authors and their works, among others, the life and works of Danilo Kiš, Mihail Lalić, Živko Nikolić, Balša Brković, Jelena Nelević, while in the programs and publishing projects, according to Đukićeva, to hundreds of authors. Božo Koprivica, Branko Baletić, Božana Jelušić, Šerbo Rastoder, Marjana Đukić are just some of the many.
"In cooperation with the cameraman of 'Antene M' and many Montenegrin actors, we recorded over 50 audio stories and poetry by Montenegrin and contemporary authors," said Đukić.
