A guru from the Netherlands has started a legal battle to legally and legally change his age to improve his chances in everyday life.
Emil Ratelband, now 69, wants to change his date of birth, March 11, 1949, to March 11, 1969, comparing the change to the changes of transgender people.
"We live in a time when we can change our names and our gender. Why shouldn't we be able to determine our own age," he said.
The local court in East Arnhem is due to hear the case in the next couple of weeks, the BBC reports.
The court said that they are skeptical about this case, convinced that there is no legal mechanism that would allow a person to change their date of birth.
But Ratelband alleges that he was discriminated against because of his age, and that it affected his chances of getting a job, as well as his success in finding people to meet on Tinder.
"When I'm 69, I'm limited. If I was 49, then I could buy a new house, drive a different car. I could work more," he said.
