Filip Kvestek, a sailor from Kotor, was arrested in Spain on suspicion of being in a group that smuggled 300 kilograms of cocaine.
In the same action, citizens of Serbia and Croatia were also arrested near the Port of Valencia.
Agents of the Spanish tax agency, as part of the end of a major action they conducted with the police, intercepted the yacht "Infraganti" in the waters off Valencia on Friday and found hidden 289 kilograms of cocaine, of extremely high purity.
When they realized they had been exposed, the three crew members threw some of the illegal cargo into the sea.
According to the media, they also threw mobile phones and a navigation device into the sea.
It is assumed that the device had a destination written on it, so police divers are searching for the GPS so that it can be included in the evidence.
The result of the expert examination could reveal the port where the Balkan smugglers, as they are called by the Spanish media, went with the white powder, whose retail value on the streets of European cities would exceed 15 million euros. The drugs were found packed in bales.
The mobile patrol of the tax agency discreetly followed the suspicious yacht "Infraganti" for six days, and they went into action when the vessel anchored near Valencia.
"When the crew members started to collect the packages from the water, the interception order was issued. This Balkan trio did not offer any resistance", according to the media.
This Spanish port is an important hub on the international cocaine smuggling route from Latin America to Europe.
Numerous criminal drug groups from the Balkans "operate" in Spain, and due to the struggle for supremacy over the drug trade, numerous confrontations have taken place in the past few months.
It is precisely because of the affairs of drugs, which are delivered by ships to Spanish ports, that the police of Montenegro and Serbia believe that some recent confrontations in our country and in Belgrade took place due to the fight of clans.
