The German Zeverin Freund is the new world champion in ski jumping on large jumps. With two perfect jumps (134 and 135,5 meters), he was convincingly the best in both series, so he triumphed with 268,7 points. In the second series, Freund also improved his own ski jumping record in Sweden's Falun by half a meter, although he shared the previous one with Norwegian Rune Velt.
With as many as 22,3 points less than the winner, silver went to Austrian Gregor Schlirensauer. The popular Sliri, one of the most trophy jumpers, made sure on the last day of the World Championship to "take out" a season in which he had only two podiums in the World Cup.
The bronze medal went to Velta, thanks to a great performance in the second series, but also the mistakes of better placed competitors from the first series of jumps.
Velta thus rounded up the medals from the world championships, as he celebrated in Falun on a normal ski jump, and he also has silver from the World Championships in flights two years ago. Velta does not have a victory in the World Cup, in which he won only three podiums in his career, but he showed that he is the best when it is most needed.
