If you wake up every morning with a stuffy nose or a constant craving for sweets, you are significantly more susceptible to colds and flu, research shows.
Experts list six signs that indicate that immunity is weakened, and that you should strengthen it:
Desire for sweets
If you eat 100 grams of chocolate, you significantly reduce the ability of white blood cells to destroy bacteria in the next five hours.
Lack of water in the body
The body needs a lot of fluids to flush out toxins. If your urine is light yellow, colorless and odorless, then you are taking in enough fluids.
Excess weight
Extra pounds are harmful to the heart, brain and other organs, and extra pounds significantly weaken the immune system. Being overweight causes hormonal imbalance and inflammation that reduces the immune system's ability to fight off infections.
Dry nose
A runny nose is the body's defense mechanism to fight flu and colds. The secretion in the nose stops viruses and prevents them from entering the body. If the nasal passages are dry, bacteria and viruses will more easily enter the respiratory system.
Chronic stress
Stress is one of the biggest enemies of the immune system. Too much stress in the body will not only increase the risk of flu and colds, but will also worsen the symptoms. People who are under chronic stress often experience the most severe symptoms and take twice as long to recover.
Frequent colds
This is a sign that the immunity is not working properly. An adult will catch a cold up to three times during the season, which lasts three to four days on average. If you have a cold more often, it means that you have not developed any resistance.
