The former director of Bjelo Polje Hospital, Dr. Tomislav Jeremić, was heard yesterday around 17 pm in the High Court in Bjelo Polje, in secret. After the hearing, investigating judge Vanja Rakonjac ordered him to be detained for up to 30 days.
Dr. Jeremic and his colleagues, heads of the gynecology-obstetrics department Zvonko Puletić and neonatology department Haka Tahirović, are suspected of serious crimes against human security.
All three were detained after the infection of five babies was discovered, one of whom died in the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
Unlike Dr. Puletić and Dr. Tahirović, about whose arrest a few days earlier, hearings and detention, information "leaked" everywhere, this hearing took place far from the public eye.
In Bijelo Polje and Podgorica on December 26 an operation was carried out to arrest suspects for numerous omissions, which led to the infection of five babies from the north, one of whom died.
The arrests followed the collection of information, evidence and the implementation of evidentiary actions during the investigation phase of the Supreme State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje and Podgorica.
