Aluminum in deodorants may endanger health, so people should reduce the use of those containing this metal, warns the German scientific agency.
According to the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, it is necessary to conduct additional studies on the long-term health effects of exposure to low concentrations of metals that are also found in other cosmetic products, writes the Magazin portal.
There is still no scientific evidence of a connection between aluminum intake and Alzheimer's disease or breast cancer, but experts remind us of studies that have shown that higher doses of aluminum have a neurotoxic effect on humans and harm animal fetuses.
Experts recommend that German adults limit their weekly intake of aluminum to one milligram per kilogram of body weight, which is taken in with one application of aluminum deodorant.
By the way, aluminum is found in drinking water, various vegetables, tea leaves, spices, in cosmetic preparations, and it additionally enters the body through aluminum foils in which food is wrapped.
