The trial of Dušan Bulatović from Belgrade and Klementina Marikj from Macedonia, accused of robbery, ended yesterday, and the verdict will be pronounced tomorrow.
According to the indictment, Marikj first entered the bookmaker "Volkano" to inspect the situation, and when she left, Bulatović entered and stole 75 euros at gunpoint, while the Macedonian woman was waiting for him in the vehicle.
Prosecution lawyer Vukas Radonjić assessed that both defendants were found guilty, pointing out that Bulatović told the prosecutor that Marikj knew what he was going to do, despite changing that statement at the trial.
"Bulatović had no motive to falsely accuse the accused, this is a man who is no stranger to participating in criminal proceedings as a defendant, so he certainly knew that his defense would trigger the initiation of criminal proceedings against the accused," said Radonjić.
Bulatović said at the trial that Marikj did not know that he was going to rob the betting shop. Explaining why he told the prosecutor that his alleged accomplice could have known what he was up to, Bulatović said that at the time he was confused and harassed by the police.
His lawyer, Natalija Karadžić, recalled that the accused admitted his guilt and repented, which was also recognized by the injured parties who did not join the criminal prosecution.
"Svadbarski's gun, which he used during the commission of the crime, is not a tool that is suitable for injuring the life and body of a person," said Karadzic.
The criminal offense for which they are accused is punishable by two to ten years in prison.
