Danilovgrad: More and more thieves, but only one inspector

The security of almost 20.000 citizens of Danilovgrad is taken care of by one inspector of the criminal police, who has a more than 20-year-old "Golf II" at his disposal.

Although the systematization stipulates that five inspectors and two crime technicians work in that Security Department, in the Criminal Police Sector (SKP), that number has not been filled for more than a year. In addition to one inspector, whose jurisdiction includes almost all criminal acts, there is also one crime technician in that sector.

On November 11, "Vijesti" asked the Police Directorate about the situation in the Criminal Police Department of the Danilovgrad OB. The answers did not arrive even after almost 20 days and two emergency calls.

According to "Vijesti" unofficial information, the leaders of the Police Administration and the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been informed about the problems, but there is still no solution in sight.

The Danilovgrad Police is in charge of maintaining order on the territory of that Municipality, which is about 500 square kilometers.

Thefts in that city are becoming more frequent, it happens that during one night thieves ransack several buildings.

"Vijesti" interlocutors explain that it is almost impossible to work with a shortage of inspectors and crime technicians and a dilapidated car, but that this is not noticeable in the results.

An inspector who works alone covers all areas from theft to narcotics and the most serious crimes. For more than a year, there is no rest, no break, no day off for him. From time to time, he has help from his colleagues from the Podgorica SKP, but he is always on his own and available," said a well-informed source of "Vijesti".

Although thefts are becoming more frequent in the city near the Zeta River, from the first day of 2014 to November 10, 45 property crimes were reported to the police. Of that, 23, or 51 percent, were illuminated. These are the official data of the Police Administration, which were submitted to "Vijesti" on November 11.

In the answer, it is added that from January 1, 2010 to January 1, 2014, 244 criminal offenses from that area were registered in the territory covered by OB Danilovgrad, and that 133, or 49 percent, have been solved so far.

A third of traffic officers and police officers are missing

In addition to the SKP, there is also a shortage of police officers at the public order and peace and traffic stations of the Danilovgrad police.

According to the Rulebook on Internal Organization and Systematization of the MUP, which is available on their official website, there should be about 50 employees in that Security Department.

Of that, in addition to the chief, commander, on-duty inspectors, sector and shift leaders, which should be 16 in total, the Danilovgrad police, according to the Ordinance, should employ the same number of traffic officers and 11 policemen from the Public Order and Peace Sector. That number, according to unofficial information from "Vijesti", is a third smaller.
