One of the owners of the "Garden" restaurant, Mirko Simonović, claimed yesterday that Vidoje Stanišić, Saša Klikovac and Željko Bulatović did not ask him for money, but that Bulatović complained on August 1 that he had several stomach problems from the food he ate in that restaurant.
He said this at the trial of the trio accused of trying to extort him, allegedly demanding 5.000 euros.
Simonović completely changed the statement he gave in detail to the police and the prosecutor - yesterday he said that he only wanted people from the criminal milieu not to come to his restaurant, and that he was particularly annoyed that he
Bulatović pulled his nose that evening, in front of a full restaurant.
He said that they then invited him to sit with them and that Bulatović complained that he got food poisoning in "Garden".
He added that they wanted to take him outside to discuss it, but that "they were probably irritated that he didn't want to leave the restaurant."
"And that I told them that they don't have to come to the bar at all, if they don't like the food. "Bulatović started to kick me in the leg, but he didn't succeed, and the last straw for me was when he humiliated me in front of a full restaurant, by grabbing my nose," said Simonović.
He said that he mentioned the 5.000 euros only because Klikovac told him that night that if Bulatović filed a lawsuit, he could get that amount due to poisoning.
When Judge Nada Rabrenović asked him why he completely changed the statement he gave to the prosecutor, Simonović pointed out that he had no experience with criminal processes and that he only wanted the police to warn the accused not to come to his bar again.
And the accused practically repeated his story, and Bulatović said that he was especially annoyed when Simonović allegedly cheekily replied that he was not interested in the story about food poisoning.
"I used to come there two or three times a day to eat, and I spent much more money in the restaurant than I am accused of asking for." "If Simonović had told me that I was unwelcome in the bar, I would not have come again," claimed Bulatović.
The co-owner of the "Garden" restaurant, Dragiša Grubović, confirmed yesterday that Simonović approached him at one point and said "he can't take this anymore, because they accused him of poisoning them and that he will have to report them to the police."
Simonović told the prosecutor, among other things, that Klikovac and Stanišić asked him to hand over 5.000 euros to them, and when he refused - Klikovac asked him to transfer the local number to him. Bulatović then, as he told earlier, advised him that he had better do as he was told, because otherwise they would bring the "Zagoričans" to him to create disturbances and disperse the guests.
The accused are known to the police - Stanišić and Klikovac are being tried in the High Court for computer fraud worth millions, and Bulatović was released from prison in Spuz last summer, where he was serving a multi-year sentence for the murder of Samir Usenagić.
The trial continues on November 14.
Stanisic would send the prosecutors to prison
The accused refused to answer the questions of the prosecution and the court, stating that everything was set up for them.
"I would like the prosecutors to go to the Spuška casemates, it's not pleasant at all, they should be sent there for education," Stanišić said.
The judge refused to let them defend themselves from liberty, saying that the police could not find them at the time.
"These are liars and crooks, the biggest criminals, they didn't even look for us. I will knock on many doors, judge, remember," Stanišić said.
