The exhibition "Concrete and works on paper" by Milovan Novaković will be opened tomorrow evening at 19:30, in "Atelje Dado" in Cetinje.
Novaković graduated in 2013 from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, in the department of painting. He lives and creates in Podgorica.
"If there is an essential narrative lack of fine art, such as epic-ethnic painting reveals to us, that is, the fine art that best reveals the need for this art to acquire something from the ability to tell stories, then perhaps also narrative literature, that most exemplary narrative art, for its part, has some purely artistic deficiency. With ethnic realism, when art shows its greatest dependence on narrative, in the age of the undisputed reign of narrative literature, it is precisely then that the very constitutive lack of narrative power comes to light. For, it seems, every great story at some point has the necessary image, figure, figure... Pictoriality appears here as the otherness of the narrative, as that lack around which it extends its weavings that can always be continued and completed, but never in such a way that they displace and finally fill this empty place of the narrative as the place of an image Such displacement of the image is in principle hidden by its weaving into its own discursive vortex: the image is already always carried away by language, mediated by signifiers, thus transformed into a symbol, into a figure of spoken language," wrote philosopher Ugo Vlaisavljević in the text for the catalog accompanying Novaković's exhibition. .
