Just as there are rules for food, there are also rules for water that you need to know. If you follow these rules of water consumption, be sure that you have made a serious change in your life.
If you have been to the toilet several times throughout the day or have pain and bloating after lunch, chances are high that this is happening to you precisely because of improper water consumption.
- Before you raise your glass to drink water, first sit as you would when you eat
- No matter how thirsty you are, drink one sip at a time, not the whole glass at once. Take a sip of water, take a breath, then take another sip of water and you'll immediately notice the difference
- Drink water regularly throughout the day. If you drink a huge amount of water at once, the water just passes through you and your body does not absorb it
- Forget about the water from the fridge. The temperature of the water should be close to room temperature, otherwise it will only harm your digestive system
- Drink only a few sips of water after a meal. Too much water interferes with your body's digestion process. The rule is this: 50% food in the stomach, 25% water and 25% empty space for your digestive system to properly digest food
- For the same reason, do not drink too much water before a meal
- Always drink water when you are thirsty. You must not ignore thirst
- In relation to the amount to drink, the basic rule is that you need eight glasses of water a day. But, take into account that every person is different, just as organisms are different. That's why it's best to always drink when you're thirsty, and that way you'll discover your own measure
- Urine gives you signals if you are drinking enough water. If your urine is clear or light yellow, it means that your body is hydrated, but if the color of urine is dark yellow, it is a sign that you need a lot of water
- Lips are another indicator of dehydration. If your lips are dry and chapped, this is a sign that you need water.
