The head coach of the Swiss football team, Otmar Hitzfeld, announced today the list of players he is counting on for the World Cup in Brazil.
There are 23 players on Hitzfeld's roster, and there are no surprising names among them.
Also, Hitzfeld announced the list of seven reserve football players, on whom he is counting on for the World Cup, if someone from the main list gets injured by June 2.
The World Cup in Brazil will be held from June 12 to July 13, and Switzerland competes in Group E with France, Honduras and Ecuador.
The list includes goalkeepers: Diego Benalho (Wolfsburg), Roman Bjurki (Grashopper) and Jan Somer (Basel).
Defense: Steve von Bergen (Young Boys), Johannes Djourou (Hamburg), Michael Lang (Grashoppers), Stefan Lichtsteiner (Juventus), Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg), Fabian Schar (Basel), Filip Senderos (Valencia) and Reto Ziegler (Sassuolo ).
Midfielders: Tranquillo Barneta (Eintracht Frankfurt), Valon Behrami (Napoli), Blerim Dzemaili (Napoli), Želson Fernandes (Freiburg), Gokhan Inler (Napoli), Xerdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich) and Valentin Stoker (Basel).
Forwards: Josip Drmić (Nuremberg), Mario Gavranović (Zurich), Admir Mehmedi (Freiburg), Haris Seferović (Real Sociedad) and Granit Džaka (Borussia Monchengladbach).
