The Citadel connects Belgrade, Zagreb, Rijeka... The "City Theater" festival will once again mark the cultural life of Budva, Montenegro and the region this year. The directorate of the festival for the summer of 2014 announces interesting and high-quality events organized through four recognizable program units, drama, art, music and literature.
However, the directorate notes that the program that is being worked on is still treated as preliminary, both because of the negotiations that are still ongoing, and because of the fact that the program needs to be adopted by the Council, whose constitution is expected at the session of the Budva Council of continues on April 28.
Of course, the negotiations also depend on the alignment with the approved budget for this year's program, which, according to the decision of the SO Budva, amounts to 450.000 euros.
"I hope that this year we will also meet the expectations of the 'Grad Teatar' audience, who have been showing their trust in the festival for 28 years, knowing that they will attend extraordinary artistic and cultural events," said Merin Smailagić, director of the Grad Teatar JU, for "Vijesti".
However, Smailagic confirms, we have to wait for the beginning of May and the constitution of the Council that will adopt the program that is coming to an end. Therefore, it is still only a preliminary program.
"Recognizable program units of the festival this year will also be the formal backbone of the festival events, of which we primarily highlight the production one. This year we are also talking about regional ties, so we have agreed to cooperate with the National Theater from Belgrade and the National Dance Foundation for the ballet "Cursed Courtyard", inspired by Andrić's novel; with Zagreb theater Gavela and Hartefakt from Belgrade, we will perform Šafer's famous text 'Amadeus', and with BITEF theater and Rijeka theater "Ivan Pl. Zajc" ballet "Don Juan", announced Smailagić.
According to him, cooperation with Montenegrin houses is definitely in the plan.
"This year, cooperation is planned with FIAT and JU 'Zahumlje', with whom we are working on Chekhov's 'Three Sisters' directed by Ana Vukotić and Slobodan Milatović. We will also have the opportunity to see plays from earlier years co-produced by 'Grada Teatra', 'Kanjoš Macedonović' and 'Lullaby for Nobody's Wolf', as well as the cycles of the Serbian National Theater from Novi Sad and directed by Kokan Mladenović. In addition, we are also planning a guest performance by the Croatian Theater Company from Rijeka with the play 'Aleksandra Zec' by Oliver Frljić, as well as the BITEF theater play 'My grave is small' by Dino Mustafić, based on the text by Biljana Srbljanović, Smailagić pointed out.
