Attorney Branislav Tapušković announced that in the continuation of the trial of the defendants for giving a false alibi to Ivan Bušković, he will propose that three high-ranking police officials be questioned, who will testify about alleged abuses in the way of identifying suspects in connection with the case of the attack on "Vijesti" journalist Olivera Lakić.
Tapušković, who is Nikola Bušković's defense attorney, did not want to reveal the names until the next hearing on May 16.
Nikola Bušković is one of the defendants for perjury and is the brother of the man convicted for the attack on the "Vijesti" journalist. Apart from him, his comrades Dragoslav Perazić, Ivan Siništaj, Borko Čađenović, Branko Bašović and Simo Đurović were also accused.
According to the indictment, on May 28, 2012, they gave a false statement in front of the court and testified that Ivan Bušković played soccer with them on March 7, 2012, between 21:22 PM and XNUMX:XNUMX PM.
During that time, a journalist from "Vijesti" was attacked. On July 20, 2012, Judge Željka Jovović sentenced Ivan Bušković to nine months in prison for the attack on Lakićeva.
Tapušković, who recently joined Podgorica lawyer Mirko Bogićević in defending Bušković, proposed that Judge Nada Rabrenović hear eight more witnesses.
Branko Bašović's defense attorney Milovan Milošević, as well as his colleagues, announced yesterday that they are withdrawing their request to hear Lakić, Miloš Šoškić and former police director Veselin Veljović as witnesses.
Veljović's hearing was previously requested by the defense because of his statement in the Basic Court at the end of September 2013, when he said that the elders who were leading the investigation told him that Ivan Bušković was innocent in prison.
He said this in the case against his former husband and head of security, Milenko Mića Rabrenović, for endangering the safety of the "Vijesti" journalist and her family.
"I heard from the elders who led the investigation, whose names I cannot disclose, that Bušković is innocent in prison," Veljović said at the time.
In the Basic State Prosecutor's Office, the investigation process is ongoing based on the report submitted by Lakić after Veljović's testimony. Veljović was recently questioned by the prosecutor's office on that occasion, and the investigation in that case has not yet been completed.
