Budva: Seven Russian citizens rescued after the engine failure of a sailboat

Officers of the Regional Border Police Center "South" carried out a search and rescue operation yesterday, in the Budva area, during which they rescued seven citizens of the Russian Federation from a sailboat, the Police Administration announced.

"Officials of the RCG Police South previously received a call from the Maritime Safety Administration in which the police officers were informed that there was a sailboat with a broken engine in rough seas, at a distance of about four nautical miles southwest of the island of St. Nicholas. Police officers of the Border Unit Police in Budva immediately set sail on an official vessel and found the vessel, i.e. the sailboat "Nana" at the indicated position. They successfully transferred seven persons - citizens of the Russian Federation - from the sailboat onto the official vessel," the police administration announced.

It was established that the people from the sailboat are in good health and do not need medical assistance.

The identity of the owner of the vessel, who is a Russian citizen, was also established, and the maritime navigation safety inspector of the Port Authority of Bar was notified.
