Tivat salt pans

After an unsuccessful attempt in the 60s to activate a salt pan in the marshy part of the coast of the Tivat Bay, this floodplain was neglected for a long time. Since 2008, Tivat salt marshes have been a special reserve for the preservation of rare plants and 14 registered species of reptiles and amphibians. Currently, work is being done on the restoration of the dried-up parts of the salt pools.

Due to their importance for the survival of flora and fauna, the Tivat Salt Flats were the first protected area in our country after 1968, when a large number of beaches were protected.
