Just a few days after he received the Order of Courage for saving an old woman from three robbers, kayaker Milutin Šoć fought for his own life for more than an hour yesterday.
Šoć told "Vijesta" that due to a strange combination of circumstances, he found himself at the mercy of the wild Morača, whose currents and roars smashed him against the rocks under the Suspension Bridge in Podgorica.
The athlete, with a lot of difficulty, but luckily, managed to escape the swollen river and reach Skalina with a broken kayak, where the rescue teams were waiting for him...
Milutin's unequal struggle with the incoming mountain river began shortly before 9 a.m., when, as he claims, he received a phone call from an unknown person, who "told him in a dramatic voice that she needed help, because a woman was drowning in Morača".
