A year marked by water polo players

The senior water polo national team marked the 2013 sports year in Montenegro.

The best Montenegrin water polo players in the last year won a silver medal at the World Championship in Barcelona, ​​while they finished their performance at the final tournament of the World League in Chelyabinsk with a bronze medal.

The successful year of Montenegrin water polo was completed by the junior national team winning the title of European champion in Malta.

The football team's performance in the World Cup qualifiers in Brazil ended in third place, the best Montenegrin basketball players were eliminated in the first round of the European Championship in Slovenia, while the women's basketball team finished the continental championship in France in a tie for ninth place.

The expected result of the handball players was missing, as in the previous championship in Brazil, the World Championship in Belgrade finished in the round of XNUMX.

The handball players won 22nd place at the World Championship in Spain, but they finished the qualification in an effective way and qualified for the European Championship in Denmark.

The women's cadet handball team achieved a valuable result by winning fifth place at the European cadet championship.

Notable results were also achieved by the volleyball selections, bearing in mind the previous year. The men's volleyball team was fifth in its debut appearance in the European League, while the women's volleyball team for the first time in history passed the first round of qualification for a major competition, in this case for the World Championship.

Budućnosti handball players continued their dominance in the Regional League, while in the Champions League they were participants in the main round.

Buducnosti basketball players played in the quarterfinals of the Eurocup, while they were fifth in the regional ABA league.

Volleyball players from Budva Riviera, participants in the second phase of the Champions League, also had a successful year, while Budućnosti from Podgorica finished second in the Balkan League.

The performance of the Mladost footballers in the qualification for the Europa League is also worth noting, while the water polo players from Jadran and Primorje played in the quarter-finals of the Eurocup.

Basketball player Nikola Vučević also had a year to remember, ranked second on the list of the NBA's best jumpers.

He was a participant in All-Star Weekend and the Rising Star Challenge, finishing with 15 points and four rebounds.

On the big stage was the boxer Nikola Sjekloća, who lost the qualifying match for the title of world champion in the super middleweight category, version of the WBC, to Saki Biko.

Marina Raković also achieved a valuable result by winning the bronze medal at the senior European championship in karate.

Mario Hodžić crowned a successful karate year with the title of champion at the cadet world championship in Guadalajara.

Karate players were also successful at the European Championship for cadets, juniors and junior seniors in Konja and won five medals (one gold, one silver and three bronze medals each).

Cadet Anja Jović won the gold medal, junior Jelena Maksimović won silver, and junior Adonis Markašević, junior senior Vladimir Jović and the men's kata team Dragoljub Vukotić, Marko Vratnica and Boris Zečević won bronze.

The successful year of Montenegrin cadets was completed by judoka Arso Milić by winning the bronze medal at the World Cadet Championship in Miami.

Montenegrin athletes were successful at the Games of Small European Countries in Luxembourg and ended their performance with nine gold medals.

Athletes Danijel Furtula and Slađana Perunović won two gold medals each, and judokas Mrvaljević, Nikola Gušić and Tanja Božović, athlete Marija Vuković in the high jump and table tennis player Irfan Čekić won one each.

Mrvaljević won gold at the Mediterranean Games in Mersin, bocce player Miroslav Petković won the silver medal, and Danijel Furtula, boxer Nikola Milačić and judoka Nikola Gušić won bronze.

Athlete Kristina Rakočević won gold in the discus throw and silver in the shot put at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Utrecht.

The bronze medal was won by judoka Arso Milić.

Table tennis player Irfan Čekić won the title of Balkan champion in the junior senior competition, judoka Marko Radulović was the winner of the Grand Prix in Rijeka, while kickboxer Damir Muković won the title of European professional champion.
