Ivo Menzalin, Špiro Lučić, Boro Gligić and Ivo Gojnić were sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison for war crimes and inhumane treatment of Croatian prisoners of war in the Morinj collection center.
Menzalin was sentenced to four years, Lučić and Gligić to three years each, and Gojnić to two years in prison.
The verdict was pronounced by the special panel of judge Milenko Žižić in the High Court in Podgorica.
Radonjić: We will file an appeal with the Court of Appeal
Lawyer Raško Radonjić, defending Boro Gligić, announced that he will file an appeal to the Court of Appeal against the verdict by which his client was sentenced to three years in prison.
Radonjić said that he will file an appeal when he receives the verdict, explaining that today was only the pronouncement of the verdict.
"We will appeal to the Appellate Court, and it will decide in the further proceedings on the appeal. There is no longer any chance of overturning the verdict, of going back to the trial again, this is the third time, so the Appellate Court will decide on the merits," Radonjić told the Mina agency.
He said that he expects to receive the verdict during August or September.
"When I receive the verdict, within 15 days of receiving it, I will file an appeal with the Appellate Court," stated Radonjić.
