The novel "Divine Children" by Tatjana Gromača received the thirteenth Jutarnji list award for the best prose work, while the book "Kino Tom - Antonio G. Lauer or Tomislav Gotovac between Zagreb and Belgrade" by Slobodan Šijan received the ninth award for the best nonfiction work.
The Jutarnji list award for the best prose work was awarded for the thirteenth time, and the decision on the winners was made by a five-member jury
In addition to Tatjana Gromača's award-winning novel, the finals for the best novel of Jutarnji list included the novel "Karnera" by Montenegrin writer Milorad Popović and the novel "Planet Friedman" by Josip Mlakić (all three novels were published by Fraktura), and two collections of stories - "Feed me" Roman Simić Bodrožić and "Colonel Beethoven" Damir Karakaš.
Popović's novel was published last year by Croatian Frakture and Montenegrin OKF, and this is the first time that a work outside the Croatian literary language has been nominated for a renowned award.
The jury announced the following about Milorad Popović's novel: "Writing about Montenegro, Popović also writes about Croatia (as well as Albania, Macedonia) and its war and transition reality, which makes it even more interesting for the Croatian readership."
The characteristics of the novel are the layering of time courses, parallel destinies, a combination of realistic and postmodern storytelling, quotableness, inserting characters from real life under real names, but also an intriguing and exciting story that holds the reader's attention from beginning to end."
The Jutarnji list award for the best prose work was awarded for the thirteenth time, and the decision on the winners was made by a five-member jury consisting of Gordana Crnković, Dario Grgić, Ivan Lovrenović, Teofil Pančić and Jagna Pogačnik.
