On Tuesday at 19:XNUMX in the "Topolica" hall, the European Championship in wrestling for cadets begins.

At the press conference in "Topolica", Zoran Poleksić, a member of the Organizing Committee of the championship, said that it will be this year's biggest international competition that will be held in Montenegro.

Until June 23, over 600 young men and women from 38 countries will compete for medals in the categories of freestyle, Greco-Roman and women's style.

The long-time president of the European Wrestling Federation, Ceno Cenov from Bulgaria, emphasized the enormous importance of the championship for Montenegro, which he said plays one of the main roles in the development of this sport in the region.

Municipal secretary for general administration and social activities Boris Mijović said that it is an honor for the host city to host such a competition in a hall that has become the main sports arena in the country for international competitions.

"This and other international competitions that we organize in Bar are of great importance for the development of local sports tourism, and we expect that the wrestling sport in Bar will gain momentum with this," said Mijović.

The director of the championship, Dalibor Perović, insisted that the cadet championship for competitors aged 15 and 16 was accepted in order to popularize the sport in Montenegro "where wrestling is still in its infancy".

"We expect massification, now we have 11 clubs, and after the championship at least two more in Bar and Ulcinj, we also thank COK for their support," said Perović.

National cadet national team selector Nikola Đurković said that eight competitors will appear on the mat in Bar, four in freestyle, three in Greco-Roman style and Božena Klikovac as the only girl, and from whom the most is expected.

"We place our highest hopes in Bozen. In the competition of such wrestling superpowers as Bulgaria, Russia and Turkey, each of our victories will be an extraordinary result", the selector pointed out.

The President of the Wrestling Federation of Montenegro, Nenad Utvić, thanked Cenov and the Municipality, wished the competitors to feel at home "and that the best will win the competition".
