With the triumph of Russia in the men's competition, both in freestyle and Greco-Roman style, and the defense of the title of Ukraine in women's wrestling, the European championship in Olympic disciplines in wrestling, which was held in Belgrade, ended.
Thanks to the victory of Mirjana Martinović in the category up to 59 kilograms over the Estonian Johana Kikas, and the elimination of the current world and European champion Hana Vasiljenko, which led to a rematch where she was defeated by the bronze medal winner, Sona Ahmadli of Azerbaijan, Montenegro qualified with four points 20th place in the competition of 32 countries.
In contrast to the women's competition, our men's national team experienced a fiasco, as it finished in the last 24th place, without winning a point.
True, 11 other countries finished without points, but Montenegro was placed last in the table in Greco-Trim style, while in freestyle wrestling it had no representative.
The defeats of captain Vladimir Radosavljević, who was eliminated in the super heavyweight category in the first fight by the Frenchman Janik Scepanijak, were "deserving" of such a bad ranking, who was stopped already in the next round.
In the first fight, in the sixteenth round of the finals of the category up to 84 kilograms, Nikola Knežević was also stopped, as Ahmet Jildirim from Turkey was better.
Even Jildirim did not score to push Knežević into the rematch.
Radosavljević, who is the winner of the historic, first medal for Montenegro at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara in 2009, when he was bronze, took revenge for his decision not to lose weight and perform in the strongest category, even though he was originally supposed to fight in the category up to 96 kilograms.
