About 50 competitors are expected to participate in the international 2013-kilometer ultramarathon, Montenegro 30, which will be held on March 40 in Podgorica, the organizers announced today.

The Podgorica ultramarathon is being held for the 13rd time, and this year the ultramarathoners will run along Crnogorski Serdara street, next to the Ljubović hill.

The circular course is one kilometer long, and the ultramarathoners will run 50 kilometers for the fifth year in a row.

The time limit for the competition is limited to six hours, so the official result will be valid only for those competitors who cover 50 kilometers during that time.

The ultramarathon will be the official championship of Montenegro, and it is held as part of the Podgorica Running Day event.

The president of the Organizing Committee, Milorad Backović, said that the upcoming event, in addition to the competitive part, also aims to promote athletics as the queen of sports.

"Traditional manifestation in the most difficult athletic discipline. I expect a massive sports competition, whose actor can be anyone who wants. It is our duty to show young people that sport is one of the basic prerequisites for a healthy life," Backović said at the press conference.

Backović congratulated discus and shot putter Danijela Furtula on the medals at the European Cup in Castellon.

The General Secretary of the Athletics Federation of Montenegro, Milan Madžgalj, said that the track is certified and that it is in the calendars of the European and World Athletics Federation and the Athletics Federation of Montenegro.

"I expect the performance of competitors from Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia and France. We expect about 40 competitors in the main race," said Madžgalj.

He reminded that Macedonian Zoran Dimov won last year, while the most durable Montenegrin is Miloš Malidžan from Cetinje.

As part of the ultramarathon, there are races for students from the first to fourth grade at 400 meters, pioneer girls at 600, pioneers and junior girls at 800, juniors at one thousand meters, senior girls at five thousand and seniors at ten thousand meters.

It was announced that the five and ten kilometer race is the official road championship of Montenegro.

A throwing meeting will also be held in the Tološka forest, in discus and shot put, for all ages - the Vojo Vračar memorial, in honor of the prominent Montenegrin athlete.

The start of the event is scheduled for ten, while the ultramarathoners will start an hour later.
