Different and yet similar. They are divided by painterly poetics, and linked by themes. Young artists Ana Šćekić and Milena Krivokapić presented themselves to the Nikšić audience with the exhibition "Love, death and fear", organized by the JU Museums and Galleries as part of the June 2018 repertoire of the Nikšić cultural scene.

"We have similar themes, but different ways of expression. "Milena works more on the skeleton and it's about life and death, while I concentrated more on the human figure that slowly transforms into an animal body," said Šćekić, who presented herself with 14 paintings made on large-format canvases.

The works, which were created in the last two to three years, are a continuation of the "Blood" project, which consisted of video works and photographs, and which dealt with the ways in which humans kill animals.

"My works mainly represent mental disorder, as well as stigma. As far as the art audience is concerned, I would suggest that stigma develops as much as possible when it comes to mental disorders, inner fears, conflicts and when it comes to the inner image of a person", said the artist whose works represent "a mirror of her psychological state, in which the struggle with her own identity is manifested".

"We combined our similar perception of man and thoughts on similar topics through completely different artistic expressions. What is at the core of our interest and what we have in common is that we give priority to the inner, experienced, emotional in man," said Krivokapić, who presented herself with 10 oil paintings and 15 drawings.

The center of her interest is man, his physicality and transience. Man is a frequent motif of artists, and according to Krivokapić, the reason is simple - man is the greatest unknown to himself.

"Artists, regardless of the way they work, will always look to observe themselves and others in relation to themselves and vice versa, in order to reach and achieve some answers. Everything originates from man, the representation of him and what we observe, see, and how and in what inner way we experience it," says Krivokapić.

Opening the exhibition, Milosav Milatović, curator of the Museums and Galleries, presented female artists who "deal with man, issues of inner self, self-knowledge and self-realization".

Šćekić graduated in painting in 2008 at the FLU in Cetinje, in the class of professor Branislav Sekulić. He is a member of ULUCG. Her paintings are characterized by a monochrome dark background from which human or human-like figures, heads and faces emerge," he said.

Krivokapić graduated and completed specialist painting studies at the FLU in Cetinje, in the class of prof. Dragan Karadžić, M.Sc. She trained in the country and abroad. She had several group and several solo exhibitions. He also plays flamenco.
