Montenegrin singer Nina Strugar will hold a concert on Tuesday, October 30, in the large hall of KIC Budo Tomović from 20 p.m. And this time, as she says, she will sing in Turkish, and since the name of the concert is "Balkan motifs", Strugareva announces what else the audience will have the opportunity to hear:
"At the concert in KIC, I will perform traditional songs from Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Metohija, and Macedonia. I will walk a little through the Balkans and, in addition to our language, I will also sing a few stanzas in Turkish, because that is something that is expected of me now", she believes.
Since the concert is called "Balkan motifs", and there are many songs that the audience likes, Strugar admits that it was difficult to choose the right repertoire.
"My goal was to unite Balkan folklore, because just as I belong to the Montenegrin cultural code, I also belong to the Balkan one. It was extremely difficult to select songs, because there are so many wonderful compositions
Montenegro as well as the region, and interpret them all in one concert. But I somehow chose those songs that suit me the most, which are recognizable and receptive to the audience", reveals Strugar.
It is not easy to prepare the two-hour program that her concert will last.
"Given that I'm accompanied by great and experienced musicians, it didn't take much time to compile and complete that repertoire. We worked on this concert for some two or three months," admits Nina, and when asked which songs "gave her the most trouble" during rehearsals, she answers:
"Well, I have to admit that these are all compositions that I love and know well, so I didn't have too much trouble with the interpretation. Perhaps the songs from that Kosovo opus were a little more demanding, because that melody is specific and requires a special interpretation. We also planned some tracks in Greek and Romanian, but there are many wishes and little time, so we will leave it for the next concert", promises Strugar.
This concert will not be without guests either.
"My guest will be our prominent artist Zdravko Đuranović and two wonderful ladies and my friends Renata Perazić and Neda Papović, who are great vocalists known for their jazz and pop songs," reveals the interviewee of Vijesti.
Although it is the most difficult to perform in front of fellow citizens, Nina successfully fights the excitement before the concert in her native Podgorica.
“It sounds like a corny phrase, but it's true. It is extremely difficult because there is a great deal of responsibility in front of the home audience. But it is also a great honor. I wouldn't call it nervousness, more excitement and a nice dose of adrenaline that drives me, especially since the concert was supported and partially financed by the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of the Capital City," she says.
The fact that she organizes a concert on her "home turf" is one of the reasons that her acquaintances call her for tickets.
"They keep calling, especially these few days before the concert, which makes me very happy. It's even surprising how many people are interested in and eager for these kinds of concerts and this kind of music", said Strugar proudly, who hopes that there will be more such gatherings with the audience in the future.
"I hope there will be more during the next year. I would like it to be primarily in Pljevlja, because it is a city with a wonderful audience that loves me very much and where I often perform as a guest with the city's tambourine orchestra. Other municipalities are also in the plan, but all of that requires material resources and time for organization.
