Miodrag Šćepanović awarded in France

Montenegrin sculptor Miodrag Šćepanović won the "Michel Dimon" award for the sculpture "Dangerous Shadows" at the Salon of French Artists in Paris.

At that Salon, which was closed a few days ago, Šćepanović exhibited three sculptures, in addition to the award-winning one, the Parisian audience could also see "The Unreturned View" and "View" in the Grand Palais.

Šćepanović told "Vijesta" that there were more exhibitors at the Salon of French Artists than at the famous Autumn Salon, which was held last month, and at which Šćepanović has been exhibiting for a whole decade.

The sculptor from Kolašin, who is highly respected in France, had numerous offers to sell the award-winning "Dangerous Shadows"

"There were over 2.000 exhibitors at the Salon of French Artists, the Grand Palais was full of works. Visitors went in and out of the exhibition spaces for hours. I haven't seen so many visitors since the celebration of 100 years of the Autumn Salon.

The gran pale was divided into two parts. In one part, gallerists and those who paid for the space exhibited, and in the other part, which also contained my works, selected works were exhibited. I received the "Mišel Dimon" award, which is one of the awards in addition to the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards," Šćepanović said.

Customer offers

The sculptor from Kolašin, who is highly respected in France, had numerous offers to sell the award-winning "Dangerous Shadows", a stone sculpture representing the head of a leopard.

It was Šćepanović's jubilee - his tenth participation, and his success at this prestigious event was crowned back in 2006.

"I wasn't sure if I wanted to sell it... and I defended myself from buyers by only having a permit for temporary removal," Šćepanović said.

Salon of French artists is a large exhibition where mostly French people are represented, and artists from other countries are rare.

Miodrag Šćepanović, a Montenegrin sculptor of exceptional artistic sensibility, presented himself with the sculpture "Passion" at the Autumn Salon in Paris last month. He did not receive an award for that collection, but it was chosen to be on the cover of the catalog of the most significant event in the world of fine arts, which has been going on for more than 100 years.

It was Šćepanović's jubilee - his tenth participation, and his success at this prestigious event was crowned in 2006 - with the Salon's First Prize, which was awarded to him for "Security" (sculpture in stone). Since 2008, this famous sculptor from Kolašin became a member of the "Autumn Salon" association.
