For the past six years, only 1.970, that is, about 20 percent of women, of which there are 8.626 in that municipality, chose a gynecologist in the outpatient clinic of the Health Center in Cetinje.
For a gynecological examination, according to the words of prim. Dr. Branka Lopičić–Kaluđerović, patients who were last examined 25 years ago also come to the clinic.
During the last two years, that health institution made a public appeal to the women of Cetinje several times through the means of information, but the fact that the invitations for mandatory preventive examinations were sent to their home addresses did not bear fruit either.
"Since the beginning of registration, the response of women has been very poor. It is not possible to say concretely what is the reason for not taking care of their reproductive health. Some of the female citizens perform examinations in the outpatient clinic of the General Hospital "Danilo I", which is one of the possible reasons. During the year, we referred them personally invited to perform preventive examinations, but the percentage of those registered is still unsatisfactory," Dr. Lopičić-Kaluđerović told "Vijesta".
She assures that the clinic of the Health Center is well equipped and that all diagnostic procedures can be performed. However, only about 15 examinations are performed per day:
"There is one gynecologist working in the outpatient clinic, and we are expecting the return of a colleague from specialization. Most of the patients who come to us are patients with certain health problems, less often are those who come for preventive examinations".
Lopičić-Kaluđerović emphasizes that regular gynecological examinations, at least once a year, should be imperative for every woman because they imply prevention, health promotion and prevention of serious diseases.
