"I claim that I didn't hit him with my head," Cetinje taxi driver Ibrahim Dimo Canović (45) repeated several times during the telephone conversation, who said that he did not break the hip of fellow citizen Luka Vujović (53).
He claims that last Friday, with great difficulty, he managed to save himself from the mistreatment of, as he said, a strange customer.
Canović said that everything stated by the police in the report is not true, but that he has many witnesses who will confirm that he did not hit Vujović, but that he was "saving his head and the car" from him.
"The truth is that on that day I received a call from the switchboard to go to Danilo Hospital and pick up the customer. That's what I did, but I couldn't even dream of what would happen while driving. The customer kept repeating that he was driving right, then left. .. he kept nervously suggesting something. When we got to "Vulaš" in the city center, I asked him: "Friend, could you tell me where to go?" After that, there was trouble," claims Canović, who says that he was surprised when an inspector called him to the Cetinje police on Monday, in order to take a statement from him.
The taxi driver stated that Vujović then allegedly grabbed his steering wheel with his hands, and then 'hit him twice in the head with a box and cursed his father'.
"What was happening to me was seen by the people from the bar, as well as by my colleagues, because our bus stop is nearby. As he pulled his hands on the steering wheel, I climbed onto the curb. However, I endured all of this and asked him, 'What is this? , where will we go'... Then he hit me again and cursed me," says Canović.
The taxi driver admits that the new blow and swearing were the final straw, which broke his patience, so, he explained, he pulled the customer out of the car by force.
"I grabbed him by the shirt with my hands and pulled him out into the street. But that wasn't the end of it either, new torments befell me. He ran after me around the car for ten laps, and then took a lighter and jumped into the car through the window of my door. He shouted that he was going to set me on fire, that everything was going to burn and 50 people were watching," claims the taxi driver, stating that he managed to pull Vujović out of the car, repeating that he "never hit him".
"I never hit him. It is not true that I kicked him twice in the thigh, which caused him to fall and break his hip. He fell himself, which is probably how he injured himself," said Canović, against whom the Cetinje police will, in in the regular procedure, file a criminal report for "causing serious bodily injury".
The incident from Friday was reported to the police from the "Danilo I" hospital, when the doctors called and announced that they had received a patient with a broken hip.
When asked, Vujović said that he broke his hip after falling alone on the street, but based on witness statements, the police suspected that Canović had caused his serious injuries.
