Former DB official, Vasilije Mijović, was acquitted of illegal possession of weapons and explosive materials.
The judge of the Basic Court in Podgorica, Nada Rabrenović, stated that it has not been proven that Mijović committed the criminal offense charged against him, which is confirmed by the statements of witnesses, experts, written evidence, and especially the certificates on the basis of which he received weapons from the MUP. as well as a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs that an armed list was issued for the rifle in question.
"It is a fact that a letter from the MUP from 2009 was used as evidence, in which it is written that the rifle was not registered in the electronic database of that state body, but a later letter confirmed that an armed list was issued for the weapon in question," the judge stated, explaining the verdict .
In 2010, Mijović was sentenced in absentia to six months in prison for illegal possession of weapons and explosive materials, and after a repeated trial, that sentence was overturned.
He was retried on the basis of the Criminal Procedure Act, according to which a retrial can be allowed for a person convicted in absentia. He lived in Belgrade for seven years, and Montenegrin police arrested him at Golubovci airport at the end of January this year.
