Bavaria City Racing - the smell of Formula 1 on the streets of Dublin
In the capital of Ireland, a top demonstration of auto-moto sports was held, and we were there.
Dublin, Ireland - In between the races in Monaco and Canada, Formula 1 stopped by Dublin this past weekend.
Jenson Button and the McLaren F1 team, as well as the Caterham F1 team, were participants in the Bavaria City Racing event, the ultimate demonstration of auto-moto sports, which was held this year in the capital of Ireland.
We had the opportunity to see it all on the spot.
This event generated a lot of interest. Although it was raining hard and cold until the very start of the "race" in Dublin on Saturday and Sunday, over 110.000 people followed the rides on the street course in the very center of the city.
This event transformed the center of Dublin into a spectacular race track providing its residents with five hours of non-stop entertainment.
The greatest excitement was caused by Jenson Button, who drove last year's McLaren F1 car. For the first time in its history, Dublin felt the prestige, sound and smell of Formula 1.
In addition to the F1 champion from 2009, another 70 vehicles from different categories of auto-moto sports participated in this event.
There were vehicles from the WRC championship, Superbike, SuperCars, GP2 championship, drifters and stuntmen.
The participants of the Bavaria City Racing demonstration were also Giedo van der Garde, test driver of the Caterham F1 team, Eugen Laverty (Aprilia), Adam Carroll (Le Mans Spyker), Aaron Smith (Motorbase Performance), Eugen Donnelly (Mini WRC), Terry Grant ( Monster Street Mania) and others...
"Our main goal was to make a show, so the weather couldn't spoil our fun. It was great to see so many people despite the rain. This event is great for motorsport fans in Ireland, who went absolutely 'crazy' when they saw and heard an F1 car," said Jenson Button, who drove at speeds of up to 160 km/h on the extremely narrow street circuit.
Pir Swinkels, a member of the board of directors of Bavaria NV, said that they are extremely proud to have brought the very top of motorsport to Dublin.
"After Rotterdam and Moscow, the center of Dublin and its recognizable locations offered a phenomenal new decor that brought fans a real Formula 1 spectacle. As an independent, family-owned brewery, Bavaria is able to follow its own course and invest in important markets around the world, including Dublin, even in these difficult economic times," said Swinkels.
Also in Dublin were representatives of K&M Sistemi, representatives of Bavaria products for Montenegro.
