On June 15, the 26th edition of the Budva City Theater event begins with the ballet performance "Life is Water", whose motto is "You find this funny, don't you?".
The motto of this year's festival is a quote from Karl Goldoni's "Innkeeper Mirandolina", which, along with the pieces "Fishermen's Quarrels" and "Servants of Two Masters", will be performed during the event, it was said at the press conference held yesterday.
In a completely new schedule, one month earlier than the previous quarter of a century, during the 47 festival evenings, art lovers will have the opportunity to see 56 programs, namely 26 dramatic, 12 literary, 10 musical and seven visual.
"A man who laughs is a man who is not afraid"
"Since this year the co-production series "City of Theater" is dedicated to the genre of comedy, whose power of catharsis is persistently silenced due to the long-understood fact that "the man who laughs is the man who is not afraid", by choosing this motto we wanted to highlight the need for the renewal of this genre at the festival, and on the other hand, to point out the multi-directional possibilities of staging an artistic act", stated the selector of the literary program Svetlana Ivanović.
Presenting the drama program, signed by the "Multimeda group" agency again this year, the director of the "Grad Teatar" JU, Merin Smailagić, announced five productions.
The Budva festival has decided to present the Montenegrin director Ana Vukotić this year, so in addition to "Fishermen's Quarrels", her plays "Don Juan" and "The Fourth Sister" will also be performed on the stage.
In addition to the concert "Life is a Game" that opens the festival, the production of "Grad Teatra" also produced the play "Indigo", by the young Belgrade writer Dušan Premović, directed by Branislav Lečić, which will be performed at the closing.

All colors yellow and black
The editor of the art program Smailagić said that the motto of that segment is "All colors yellow and black".
The exhibitions of Izet Alečković, Jelena Papović and Maja Erdeljanin will be opened in the Church of Santa Marija, and Predrag Koraksić - Corax will exhibit at Trg pjesnika.
In addition to the exhibition, a workshop will be held that will involve the audience in creation and turn recipients into creators.
"The workshop "Paint a performance" will enable young artists to affirm their works. The performance "Paint black with yellow and yellow with black" will animate the audience in the non-gallery/alternative space of the building on Poesnik Square. This part of the art program corresponds with the drama program," he said. Smailagic.
Budva pianists in the music program
Music program selector Milena Lubarda-Marojević said that the first part of the program will be marked by pianists from Budva.
"We will have the opportunity to listen to three piano duos consisting of: Nikola Vučković and Marko Simović, Grana Đikanović and Đakomo Ferrari, and Jelena Polović and Klaudija Gebl. In cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Herceg Novi, we will realize the performances of the "Jedinstvo" choir from Kotor, "Viva Vox" from Belgrade, as well as the academic choir "Collegium Musicum", which, led by conductor Darinka Matić-Marović, will close this year's festival," said Marojević.
In addition to the above, the "Sumy Saxophone Quartet" and the duet "Viva" will perform in Budva, in cooperation with the Embassy of Ukraine, as well as two bands made up of Montenegrin musicians of the younger generation, Danijel Cerović and Goran Krivokapić, and the trio "Tritonus", made up of pianist Bojan Martinović. , violinist Miran Begić and cellist Igor Perazić.
Buksovci on Poet's Square

The debt of the festival is equal to the price of this year's
Director Smailagić said that this year's festival will cost a total of 550 thousand euros.
"The Municipality of Budva allocated so much in the budget, I am convinced that, bearing in mind that the festival has been moved to the period before the season, the costs will be lower," he said.
He said that the workers of "Grad Tetara" are owed two salaries, and that the debt of this public institution is a total of 550 thousand euros, for organizing last year's festival.
"Our financial situation is not different from other countries. All festivals face financial difficulties. It is important that the artists who come understand that, and know that they will be respected and that money will be given to them," said Smailagić.
