Honorary doctorate to Marina Abramović

The Cuban High Institute of Arts awarded Marina Abramović the title of honorary doctor. Marina Abramović participates in the 11th Biennale in Havana.

Abramović, who is considered one of the most significant representatives of artistic performance, is participating in the 11th Biennale in Havana, the capital of Cuba, as part of the exhibition "CIFO, multiple views".

Cuban media say that Abramović's work is characterized by a passion to explore the limits of extreme pain and the human body. To achieve this, the artist uses various objects, injures herself, which sometimes leads to endangering her own safety.

She won awards at festivals in Venice, New York and other cities.

From 1965 to 1970, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade, completed her postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, and then taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, reports RTS.

She gave her first performances in the 70s.
