This month, the documentary film "The Man Nobody Knew: In Search of My Father - Master of Espionage William Colby", the American author and son of the former Director of the US Intelligence Service, Carl Colby, will be shown in American cinemas this month.
Former CIA director William Colby was found drowned 15 years ago not far from his summer house in Maryland, and at the time no one believed that he was murdered, but his son Karl never ruled out the possibility.
The film shows the life of a complex man behind the overthrow of Vietnamese President Diem and one of the creators of the strategy in the Vietnam War. His "Phoenix program" was recognized even by the Vietnamese generals as the most effective, and it still has that status today.
Although the cause of death was listed as a heart attack, suspicions were always raised by the fact that Colby had made many enemies during his career.
William Colby opened the door to major reforms within the CIA, testifying in Congress about the bad sides of the Agency, which, as it were, cost him his career.
He was last seen in May 1996, when he went canoeing. After eight days, his lifeless body was found.
Although the cause of death was given as a heart attack as a result of exposure to cold river water, many doubts were always raised by the fact that Colby made a huge number of enemies during his career.
