Furtula after the silver in Tallinn: A rush to the top step follows

Danijel Furtula from Mojkov achieved the greatest success of Montenegrin athletics in men's competition by winning silver at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn, Estonia. With three fantastic shots, Furtula had the best continuity of results in the discus throw final, but the only throw over 60 meters by the competitor from Austria left him without gold.

- The competition is over and now nothing can be changed. I am not dissatisfied with the silver, on the contrary, because with that medal I achieved the goal outlined in the training program from half a year ago. It was months of hard and dedicated work with my coach Marko Ristic and his son Nikola, thanks to whom I managed to fulfill the planned program and climb a step higher in the junior competition. Now I have to continue in an even stronger rhythm and go towards a bigger goal in the strongest, senior competition. Of course, we must not forget that the Athletics Federation of Montenegro provided me with money to fully implement the program, and I believe that I thanked both the Federation and Montenegro in the best possible way. This is a big step forward for me personally, my coach and Montenegrin athletics. Especially if it is known in what kind of competition it was achieved, 27 participants, of which even seven throwers in the final fought for the medal until the last shot - said Furtula.

And Furtula drew the public's attention last year by entering the finals of the World Championship in Moncton, Canada, and in Tallinn he managed to reach the finals of the shot put.

- Daniel started as a shot putter, but because of his incredible speed, I insisted that he devote himself to the discus. And now he mainly designed his preparations for the discus, although by entering the finals he showed that he also has the potential for the shot put. However, there must be no improvisation, that does not pass in the seniors, and now we have to work on programs for progress and fighting in the senior discus throwing competition. Mojkovac Tara is a small club, but out of the five Montenegrin norms for the biggest competitions, as many as three were provided by our club's competitors. That's why you should invest, because the potential for technical disciplines in Mojkovac is huge - said Marko Ristic.

In addition to the two Furtula finals, high jumper Marija Vuković, who was eighth, and decathlete Darko Pešić, who improved his rating by ten places and finished 13th, also qualified for the EP finals. ASCG President Milorad Vuletić said that from the international federation sought a "wild card" for Furtul at the World Championship in Daegu, so that he would have the opportunity to learn from the best,
