Hollywood producers have officially announced the names of two films by Peter Jackson based on the novel "The Hobbit" by J.RR Tolkien and the dates of their premieres.
The first part of the film will be called "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and will be premiered on December 14, 2012, according to "New Line Cinema" and "Warner Bros."
The second part will be called "The Hobbit: There and Back" and will be shown on December 13, 2013.
Jackson recently began filming a two-part adaptation of the novel that predates the events of The Lord of the Rings and follows a young Bilbo Baggins and a group of dwarves on their quest against a dragon.
Several "Lord of the Rings" stars have confirmed their participation in "The Hobbit," including Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Hugo Vivian as Elrond, Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins, Orlando Bloom as Legolas and Cate Blanchett as Galadriel.
Bilbo Baggins will be played by Martin Freeman and the film will also feature Stephen Fry, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt and others.
