Milena Lubarda Marojević, until recently two directors, will manage the public institution "Grad Teatar" during the next four years. The day before yesterday, she was unanimously elected by the Council of this public institution headed by prof. Dr. Siniša Jelušić, and the decision must be confirmed by the convocation of the local parliament at the upcoming parliamentary session.
In addition to Lubarda Marojević, director Danilo Marunović and economist Marija Zec also applied for the position of director, but the Council gave priority to the long-time music program selector and former deputy director of this public institution.
"After considering the applications for the competition for the election of the director of JU 'Grad Teatar', the Council concluded that all three candidates met the requirements. Based on what was shown in the work during the previous year, the Council unanimously gave priority to the Plan and work program of Milena Lubarda Marojević and made the decision to elect her as the director of JU "Grad Teatar" for a mandate period of four years, taking into account the entire work experience and results of work in the last year. As for the other two candidates, despite the complete professional biographies and stimulating ideas communicated in their programs, the Council is of the opinion that their proposals are incomplete, bearing in mind the necessary aspects of business that should be managed by the director of the City Theatre. The council has noticed the positive sides of their candidacies and is ready to offer them cooperation for the future in accordance with their professional activities and legal provisions", states the decision of the council signed by Jelušić.
An appeal can be filed against the council's decision within the next eight days.
Lubarda Marojević recently told "Vijesta" that during the previous year, while she was acting director, she managed to repay 540 thousand euros of debt.
"In the past year, when I managed Grado Teatra, my main focus was on the financial stabilization of the institution and on preserving the tradition of quality programs and the continuity of the festival. Under very difficult business conditions and a large number of concrete obstructions, we managed to create the preconditions for the 2018 festival to be planned properly, which includes new regional theater productions, attractive guest appearances, a scientific meeting on a current topic, finding new locations for performances, involving young professionals, cooperation with significant festivals and theaters, and participation in international projects. The problems of the "Theatre City" were numerous, and a significant number of them have been solved to date. Big projects are planned for next summer and a lot of work is being done on their implementation in accordance with the adopted work plan, which, I am sure, will finally put an end to the story of the so-called to the 'failed festival' and confirm the place of the City of Theater on the festival map of the region that it has always had," Lubarda stated in a statement for "Vijesti".
The performance "Train" tonight in "Crvena Commune"
The new festival year is announced by JU "Grad Teatar" with the realization of a long-awaited project, which will once again enable the Budva audience to follow the theatrical productions of the region in the non-festival period. From March to June, during the "City Theater - Red Commune" program, six theater performances will be shown, about which the audience will be informed in a timely manner. The program is realized in cooperation with the "Budva Museums and Galleries", and will be held in the hall of the "Red Commune" Memorial House in Petrovac.
The first event is scheduled for tonight at 20:XNUMX p.m., when the Zvezdara theater will host the play "Train", based on the text of the contemporary American author Cormak McCarthy, and directed by Voja Brajović, with whom Sergej Trifunović also plays in the piece.
