Domazetović asks for an explanation of the shift

"It was with great pleasure and pride that I performed the job of music editor because the "Bar Yearbook" is a festival with which I grew artistically and professionally. I have always emphasized that the "Bar Chronicle" and Barani finally met "their five minutes" and that the effort and effort invested over the past 29 years to not only keep the Chronicle alive at a recognizable level in the region, but also that from year to year will be of higher quality and closer to the audience"

On the occasion of his recent dismissal from the position of selector of the music program of the Bar Chronicle, where he had been for 15 years, which was also reported by "Vijesti", the famous Montenegrin pianist Vladimir Domazetović, M.Sc., issued a press release in which he stated that he still had not been informed of the reason it came to that. In the statement, Domazetović states that he feels a responsibility "towards his profession, his fellow citizens and himself" to go public while waiting for a "professional, responsible and truthful explanation".

"It was with great pleasure and pride that I performed the job of music editor because the "Bar Yearbook" is a festival with which I grew artistically and professionally. I have always emphasized that the "Bar Chronicle" and Barani finally met "their five minutes" and that the effort and effort invested over the past 29 years to not only keep the Chronicle alive at a recognizable level in the region, but also that from year to year year will be of higher quality and closer to the audience. With the great efforts of the management and myself, Ljetopis has so far hosted the "Virtuosi di Praha", the London Symphony Orchestra, the Montenegrin String Orchestra, the Italian String Orchestra, soloists from Montenegro and the region, world-renowned artists, among whom I single out Tretyakov, Viardo, Ljubimov, Rudina... Bar artists have always had special attention, with an emphasis on young musicians who were looking for their creative expression right in front of the festival audience, and the crown of that initiative was last year's first concert by students of the Bar music school at Ljetopis", he points out.

He adds that in 2017 the music program of the Bar Chronicle included 16 concerts "with less than ten percent of the budget", and states that the music program at the closing of the festival was rated "with the most positive criticism from journalists and expert audiences", and that the organizers also emphasized the success of the program, " especially in relation to the symbolic budget".

"Therefore, I have to admit, I was surprised by the decision of the director (of the Bar Chronicle, Ksenija) Popović, that at the next festival the number of classical music concerts would be halved, and I could not agree with the explanation that Barani had lost interest in the classical music concerts that were and remain trademark of the festival, and that, suddenly, they are more interested in jazz. Despite the great effort and persistent attempts to explain that two different musical genres have never existed to the detriment of the other and that jazz concerts should be introduced as a separate segment, and not at the expense of the number of classical music concerts, because the budget is certainly not a problem for this kind of innovation I didn't find understanding", continued Domazetović.

Unable to explain "something that is the musical alphabet", he adds that he agreed to a compromise and, at the suggestion of the organizers, made selections of both musical genres and even a few months ago presented the organizers with an almost completed music program for the next festival, "for which no one had any word of remark".

"My surprise was all the greater when I learned from the media about the "arbitrary" reasons why I am no longer the editor of the music program. What particularly surprised me was the fact that I sent an e-mail in a timely manner with a request to provide me with specific reasons in writing, but even as of the moment of writing this announcement, I have not received an answer", concluded Domazetović.
