Prison officers recently calmed convict Marko Pavićević twice, because he tried to set fire to his cell.

According to the unofficial information of "Vijesti", Pavićević caused the incident after allegedly being harassed by officials for days because of a fight in which he participated.

The Institute for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions (ZIKS) unofficially denied this information, in their official answers they explained that prescribed means of coercion were applied to Pavićević.

Interlocutors from Spuška prison said that in mid-January, Pavićević got into a fight with another convict - Aleksandar Marković.

Allegedly, when the Spuzka guards went to restore order, he told them that he had swallowed glass, which is why he was taken to the Clinical Center in Podgorica.

The doctors stated that the prisoner did not swallow any object that could endanger him.

The same thing happened on Saturday night, when he allegedly told the guards the same thing to avoid being beaten.

"At the Institute for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, during the past week, there was a physical conflict involving five prisoners, among whom was the prisoner of the Ministry of Justice. Due to the timely intervention of security officers, further physical conflict between prisoners was prevented", ZIKS responded on January 24.

They added that disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the participants in the conflict.

They also explained that according to Pavićević, ZIKS security officers used the prescribed means of coercion on January 20:

"In order to prevent the prisoner from setting fire to the room in which he is placed and to overcome the active resistance of the prisoner. In the process of assessing the justification and regularity of the use of means of coercion by the immediate superiors, it was assessed that the security officers used means of coercion for justified reasons, as well as that their use was proportionate to the need for which it was undertaken. Allegations that the prisoner swallowed a razor on two occasions are incorrect," claims the Spuša prison.
