The Ćetković family of six was left homeless this morning, after their apartment was completely destroyed in a fire.
The fire broke out in the city center, in an apartment in Ulica Kralja Nikola, across from the Sahat tower.
In the early hours of the morning, Dalibor Ćetković, the father of four minor children, smelled smoke in his bedroom.
"As I have problems with asthma, I first smelled the smoke and went to see what was happening," said Dalibor.
However, when he opened the living room door, the fire flared up even more, and he was pushed back by the pressure.
He told "Vijesta" that immediately after that he went to wake up his wife and children. Due to the large fire and smoke, it was not possible to go out the front door of the apartment, so his wife Dejana just pulled the children, aged one and a half and three, out of bed and they in pajamas, without anything, went out on the terrace that is connected to the neighboring apartment.
The firemen were called immediately, but even after the intervention, the damage in the one-room apartment was complete.
"We received a report of smoke coming from the apartment from a passer-by at 6:7 a.m. First, a vehicle with three firefighters was dispatched because we thought the chimney had caught fire. When they searched the building and noticed that the fire was in the apartment, they immediately called help. Three vehicles with eight firefighters were sent to the scene. Arriving at the scene, the fire was found in an advanced stage, which engulfed the kitchen and the living room. The fire was localized at 6.37:XNUMX a.m.," said the commander of the Protection Service, Andrija Čađenović.
The fire caused major damage to two rooms, and the rest of the apartment was damaged by smoke and debris.
"There were firefighters, the MUP and a court expert, who preliminarily determined that the fire broke out due to bad electrical installations, but they will have the final results in a few days," said Dragan Ćetković, Dalibor's father.
Although the tenants in the building use wood for heating, Dragan pointed out that the stove did not burn during the night, and that it could not have been the cause of the fire. Dalibor is still in shock and does not know what his next step will be.
"I can only say that fortunately the two older children, aged 9 and 7, were not there, because they usually sleep in the living room where the fire broke out," said Dalibor.
At the moment, the Ćetkovićs are staying with relatives, and they can't think about material things yet. Since the apartment was not insured, help would mean a lot to this family. Without a roof over your head and without salvaged belongings, with one employed family member, it will not be easy to support the family.
"I hope that the city administration will understand their case, after all, it is a young married couple with four minor children," said Dragan Ćetković.
For the Ćetković family, the capital will provide for the rent until their apartment is ready for habitation again, promised the mayor of Podgorica, Slavoljub Stijepović, in a conversation with Dragan Ćetković.
Mayor Stijepović also pointed out that, in agreement with the family, the workers of the Housing Agency and the cleaning company will enter the apartment in the morning in order to first provide the conditions for rehabilitation and then, in the part that is under their jurisdiction, proceed with the rehabilitation of the consequences of this severe fire.
