Table tennis player Filip Radović is the best athlete of Montenegro in the traditional selection of the Paralympic Committee (POK), the Management Board of that association decided.
Radović is the winner of the bronze medal at the senior European championship for people with disabilities in Laško.
He also won three medals, gold in singles and team and silver in doubles, at the European Youth Paralympic Games in Genoa.
"He also had notable results and won medals at international Masters tournaments in Linjan, Laško and Bayerut, which placed him in seventh position in the December ranking of the World Senior Pairs of the Table Tennis Federation, as well as in second place among players under the age of 23," it was announced. from the Paralympic Committee.
The most successful young athlete was swimmer Ilija Tadić, who won silver in the 100-meter freestyle at the European Youth Paralympic Games.
"At the World Senior Championship in Mexico City, he made it to two finals, in the 50 and 100 meters freestyle. He was eighth in the 100 meters, while he won sixth place in the 50 meters," says the POK announcement.
The most successful team in 2017 was the national team of Montenegro, which won the silver medal at the European Championship in the C division and won placement in the B division.
"The Montenegrin national team is the winner of several international and regional tournaments, which is a candidate for participation in the Central European League, in which it won fifth place this season," the announcement reads.
It is stated that the Board of Directors decided to award a gold plaque for outstanding contribution to the development of sports for people with disabilities to the Federation of Associations of Paraplegics of Montenegro and the Federation of the Blind of Montenegro, as well as to award a special award to Zoran Poleksić, the author of the book on goalball Global Mr. Goalball.
