Čotar: I didn't change my name to avoid something

Milutin Čotar (52) from Kotor reacted to the text "Arrested in action "Boka" changed his name", published in "Vijesti" on November 23.11.2017, XNUMX.

"During the search of my apartment, a weapon was found, which was in a passive position. I am suspected of possession of firearms and explosive substances from Article 403 paragraph 3, in connection with paragraph 1 and paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro. Given that I now accused of the mentioned crime, I have no right to influence the same, nor to comment on the course of the investigation.

I believe that the reporting of your media, as well as articles in some other media, significantly influenced the course of the investigation conducted against me so far, as it will continue to influence the same until the end of the proceedings. I consider the reporting of the mentioned case to be malicious, pointless, false and unfounded.

I responsibly claim that the change of my name and surname was done in a legal way, that I accepted my mother's surname and the name of my deceased brother out of piety, and not to avoid something, because I have nothing to avoid. According to me, no criminal or misdemeanor proceedings are being conducted anywhere in the world. My unique ID number has been the same since birth, my name was Milutin, Nebojša or something else.

I responsibly claim that I am not a member of any criminal clan or association, neither "skalja" nor "kavački", nor any other, neither in our country nor in the world.

I would like to know with what intention I have been so stigmatized, with what intention and for what reason they are targeting me and my family.

I responsibly claim that I am not in contact, nor am I "close" to any person from the criminal milieu, neither in our country nor in the world.

I did not influence the events, development or escalation of the conflicts that have shaken our country in recent years or decades.

I am asking the state authorities to protect me from the hunt that has been taking place against me in recent days, to protect the integrity and dignity of me and my family, which is guaranteed to every citizen of Montenegro under the Constitution of Montenegro," said Čotar.
