A Chinese artificial intelligence system, named "Al", beat a team of 15 leading doctors in diagnosing brain tumors and predicting the spread of hematomas.
"Al", also known as "Biomaind", is a product of the Research Center for Artificial Intelligence and Neurological Disorders of Tiantan Hospital in Beijing.
In diagnosing brain tumors, "Biomind" achieved an effect of 87 percent, while experts had a percentage of 66 percent.
The system took just 15 minutes to detect 225 cases, compared to the 30 minutes it took doctors.
"Biomaind" showed an advantage in predicting the spread of hematoma on the brain, where it achieved a result of 83 percent, while the doctor's success was 63 percent.
The scientists practiced the operation of the "Al" system by entering thousands of images from the archives of the Tjentan hospital. This raised his level of recognition of neurological diseases to an accuracy of even 90 percent.
The executive vice president of the Tiantan Hospital, Wang Jungduen, believes that the competition helped doctors become familiar with the possibilities of artificial intelligence, especially when it comes to those who are skeptical in this regard, reports B92.
