Montenegrin kick-boxer Miroslav Vujović failed to qualify for the finals of the World Championship in Budapest, in the competition category of the discipline K1.
Today, in the semi-final match of the category over 91 kilograms, he was defeated by Poland's Michal Blavdžievic.
"Nothing from the final, but let's move on... Thanks to everyone for the support. The match against the Pole was equal in the first two rounds, but in the third I initiated the fight too much, went forward and he scored from the counter and deservedly won the match. That's why I have to be satisfied with winning the bronze medal, said the 27-year-old from Podgorica.
The heavyweight from the Ariston club in Podgorica, Vujović, won a direct place in the quarterfinals by the will of the draw, and in the match for the bronze medal, he defeated Fatih Simik from Turkey yesterday, by stoppage in the second round.
Blavdževic's rival in the gold medal match will be Bahram Rajabzadeh from Azerbaijan, who defeated Nikola Filipović from Serbia in the semi-finals (2:1).
Vujović's medal is the only one won by Montenegrin kick-boxers at the championship in Budapest.
On the verge of a medal was Dejvid Kajević, who lost in the quarterfinals, while Remzija Dacić, Anastazija Petrović and Marko Nikolić ended their performance without a win.
