If you have severe headaches, before going to see a doctor who will prescribe the appropriate therapy, you can use these tricks. These are natural methods that can significantly relieve pain, writes Hello Giggles.
Go to a dark and quiet room
Dr. Susan Hutchinson told Hello Giggles that if you can, when you get a migraine, go to a quiet, dark room and rest. An additional tip is to lie down and place ice on your neck or forehead.
Bitter salt bath
If you're at home, Susan recommends taking a bitter salt bath. This salt contains magnesium, a mineral that relaxes nerves, muscles and transmits nerve impulses throughout the body and brain, and can prevent severe attacks.
Drink a large glass of water
The doctor explains that hydration is very important for preventing migraines. The moment you feel a migraine coming on, immediately reach for a large glass of water - especially if your mouth is dry or the weather is warm.
Go for massages
A head massage can also help relieve the pain caused by migraines.
"Just choose a method that is a little gentler, compared to vibration massages and pressure. This is especially true for the head and neck area, because a strong massage can worsen the discomfort," Susan points out.
Drink ginger tea
Rebecca Lee, registered nurse, recommends homemade ginger tea.
"Ginger contains more than 200 powerful substances in its oils and has been used in food for 2.000 years." she told "Hello Giggles." In many cases, ginger calms muscle contractions and inflammation, which is an excellent combination to combat migraines, reports B92.
